I can’t get home fast enough
I can barely wait
To pull into the garage
To charge up the stairs
To quietly peek in the window
To see you and Daddy
Inevitably locked in some hysterical pile
Of arms and legs and giggles and squeals
And then you see me
The look on your face makes my heart burst
Into a trillion shards of shiny confetti
You crawl to me at 100 miles per hour
And I scoop you up and devour you with kisses
If tomorrow I was to win the Nobel Prize for Literature…
Have an audience with all of the heads of great nations…
And hitch a ride on a shooting star to tour the universe…
You, my sweet boy
Would still be
By far
The very best part of my day
